EcoSynthesis Design Competition

Humans are intrinsically connected to the natural ecology for eons. This has
changed in modern times and more so in the past few decades where our built
environment has become detached from the natural environment. We have
now come a full circle and understand the impact of such ecological detachment on human comfort, health and well-being.

Our design solution responds directly to this competition’s theme of ‘reengagement’. The physical built environment is fractured open to allow for environmental elements to be in direct contact with the building’s occupants. The form allows for greater human interaction with and reaction to these elements including, sunlight, fresh-air, greenery and views. It facilitates an environment where occupants can re-harmonize and synthesize with the natural ecology whereby enhancing their physical awareness and cognitive performance.
